Season 1

Doll has a breakup with her boyfriend, and in a crisis goes to Hollywood to be with her childhood friend Em. To help out, Em hires Doll as her assistant, but Doll struggles working out what a Hollywood star's assistant actually does.

At a party for the cast of Em's film, Doll gets a bitter taste of life as an assistant. And the pair are tested further during an encounter with Em's producer.

Em is unable to summon tears during an emotional scene; Doll is cast as an extra; Doll befriends John Cusack.

Dolly's foot injury forces Em into the role of personal assistant; Doll interrupts a critical scene as Em is being critiqued by the director.

Em undergoes prosthetic makeup to make her look older; Andy Garcia visits the set to talk to Doll; Doll plans to screen test for a role that Em failed to land; Doll and Em have an emotional confrontation.

Em has an unsettling encounter with Doll; Em discovers that Doll is acting in a local performance and decides to attend.
