Antonis (Kastelanis), a talented cobbler and lyrist, lives in Kythera with his poor but proud parents. At a wedding feast, he meets Anna... and the two fall in love at first sight.

Kastelanis becomes the island's best cobbler. His success does not go unnoticed; besides the admiration of the people, it also sparks their envy. Tzortzis Skaleris is jealous of his good fortune and sets a ‘trap’ for him — one that will become the catalyst for everything that follows.”

Kastelanis doesn’t know how to respond to Skaleris’ accusations. As the ugly rumors about him begin to spread across the island, his father suggests that he leave for Piraeus.

In Piraeus, Kastelanis makes a new friend and soon impresses everyone with his skill as a cobbler and his talent as a lyra player. His uncle’s wife, however, does not look kindly upon him.
